Woman, 85, Robbed Of Purse; Fractures Shoulder: Hamden Police

HAMDEN, CT — An 85-year-old woman fractured her shoulder when she was robbed of her purse while putting groceries into her car Monday afternoon in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the Hamden Plaza, 2100 Dixwell Ave., around 3:45 p.m. on Monday on the report of a street robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

The woman was putting groceries into her vehicle when she was approached from behind by a man who was wearing a full face covering.

The man grabbed the shoulder strap of the victim’s purse and she was “violently pulled to the ground,” according to Smith. The impact caused her to fracture her shoulder.

Smith said the robber fled in a blue Honda CRV that was stolen earlier in West Haven.
