Woman Found With Stolen Car, Gun In Hamden: Police

The woman was driving a stolen car and was found in the possession of a stolen gun, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she was found driving a stolen car and was in the possession of a stolen gun.

Police responded to the parking lot of a Fairview Avenue business in connection with an investigation, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said officers approached Jonissa Williams, who was driving a stolen motor vehicle with a stolen license plate attached. She was in the possession of a stolen .45-caliber handgun, according to Smith.

Police found 46 bullets and a bag of cocaine inside the vehicle, Smith said.

Williams, 34, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of narcotics, second-degree larceny and interfering with a police officer.

She was released after posting bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 17.

The Hamden Police Department Detective Division, Patrol Division and Street Interdiction Team contributed to the investigation, according to Smith.
