Woman Hospitalized After Shooting In Hamden: Police

Police said they are actively looking for the man who shot her.

HAMDEN, CT, — A Naugatuck woman was hospitalized after being shot by a man late Wednesday night in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Arch Street and Dix Street around 11 p.m. on the report of a man shooting at a woman, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Officers couldn’t find the victim when they arrived at the scene, Smith said.

Police were soon notified by Yale-New Haven Hospital personnel that a gunshot victim had arrived at the hospital.

Officers learned that the victim, a 21-year-old Naugatuck resident, was confronted on Dix Street by a man that she was familiar with, according to Smith.

Smith said they were arguing and as she tried to run away from him, he shot her in her breast. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital by a friend.

Police are actively searching for the person responsible, Smith said.
