MANCHESTER, CT — Work has officially begun on a new Chick-fil-A location at the Plaza at Buckland Hills in Manchester.

The old Starbucks/Boston Market building was visibly razed Wednesday and reduced to a big pile of rubble by heavy machinery. A "coming soon" banner was hanging on the perimeter fence with the Chick-fil-A logo.

No formal opening day has been announced.

Plans for the new Chick-fil-A were submitted in September for parcels 1542 and 1428 at the Plaza at Buckland Hills. A new, 5,105-square-foot Chick-fil-A with a new parking lot and drive-up lanes are included.

Boston Market had occupied No. 1542 in the plaza. The connecting space at No. 1428 went vacant months ago when Starbucks moved across the plaza where a Mexican restaurant had stood.
