MANCHESTER, CT — Construction has begun on the new version of Dick's Sporting Goods in the Buckland Hills commercial district of Manchester.

Dick'S Sporting Goods is relocating from the Shoppes at Buckland Hills mall to the Plaza at Burr Corners and vacancies left by Pilgrim Furniture and Planet Fitness. The mall, located at 194 Buckland Hills Drive, and the plaza, located at 1131 Tolland Turnpike are one-and-a-half miles apart.

The fronts of the old stores were torn off this week and a giant sign proclaimed the new Dick's was "coming soon."

"There was a lot of opportunity when Dick's approached us," Silvera said at the time. "We were very interested in making that deal. and I think Burr Corners is a good place for the store. We're certainly happy about it."
