Last night at The Hillstown Grange, located in the tri-town corner of Manchester, Glastonbury and East Hartford a dinner featuring several different quiches were served along with salad and dessert. After dessert, people were allowed to pick out free packages of seeds of a wide variety of vegetables and flowers. Following the selection of seed packets, a one hour garden talk followed. Topics included reading a seed package, seed germination, inexpensive germination methods, preventing dampening off and the difference between open pollinated and hybrid varieties among others. This was the first in the series of Garden Talks that will take place at The Hillstown Grange on the first and third Thurs. of the month from 7pm-8pm.
