Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Northern Connecticut

Here are the new, updated details on the stormy weather we can expect today and tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties for this afternoon and evening.

The NWS says, "Bands of heavy rain with possibly embedded thunder may result in isolated rainfall amounts of up to 2 inches this evening and overnight. This may be sufficient for minor poor drainage flooding especially in urban areas.

A Flood Warning remains in effect for Connecticut River At Hartford affecting Hartford and Middlesex Counties and Connecticut River At Middle Haddam affecting Middlesex County. The Connecticut river at Hartford and Middle Haddam remain in minor flood but will continue to slowly recede.

"Flooding of low lying areas below Hartford is expected, especially in areas that are outside of levee protection. Flooding also affects low lying areas upstream of Hartford, including a portion of Windsor where the Farmington River empties into the Connecticut River. Further downstream flooding closes most of Meadow Road, Route 17A, in Portland. Flooding impacts the Middletown Marina and Meadow Farms. In Cromwell, portions of River Road will be closed. Flooding continues along the river through Essex."

Numerous showers, then widespread showers with a chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 60s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 80 percent.

Tonight
Widespread showers with a chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then scattered showers after midnight. Patchy fog. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the evening. Lows in the upper 40s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming southwest after midnight. Gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.

Mostly cloudy. Near steady temperature in the lower 50s. West winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Mostly cloudy. Lows around 40. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph in the evening.

Rain likely. Highs in the mid 50s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
