Here Is When Strong Thunderstorms Are Expected For Northern CT

The National Weather Service says potentially strong thunderstorms are in our forecast. Here's when to expect them.

NORTHERN CONNECTICUT — The heat and humidity continues today with temps around 90 degrees, but there are concerns about strong thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and evening, which are forecast to help somewhat break the heat and humidity.

There is an 80 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. On Sunday, sunny skies return with temps a bit cooler and in the low to mid 80s. More sun is expected on Monday with temps in the mid 80s.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Patchy fog before 8am. High near 88. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday Night
Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
