Man Found Unresponsive On Hartford Road In Manchester

Police are investigating an apparent case of a man taking his own life on a street in Manchester.

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police said the unresponsive person found outside an apartment building on Hartford Road Monday morning was the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Manchester Police Department Spokesman Lt. Ryan Shea said officers were alerted to a gun going off by neighbors at about 9 a.m.

Officers found a man unresponsive outside along the 200 block of Hartford Road, near Prospect Street, Shea said.

Detectives were at the scene investigating well into Monday morning.

There was never any active threat to the public, Shea said.

Police are not releasing the man's name.
