MANCHESTER, CT — Authorities in Manchester are asking residents to be aware of pet sensitivities to fireworks as the Fourth of July holiday approaches.

Amatueur backyard shows are likely to be the featured attractions with the annual municipal show being called off.

In a Twitter post this week, Manchester police said, "Please be considerate to your neighbors — especially the furry ones. Although CT legal fireworks are fun and beautiful to us, even legal fireworks can be scary, loud and disturbing to pets. As the Fourth approaches, enjoy time with family and friends, and be safe."
