Manchester Library Reopens With New Rules

MANCHESTER, CT — The Mary Cheney Library reopened Monday with a whole new set of rules related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The library is featuring "grab and go services."

Here are the guidelines:

  • Masks need to be worn by anyone seeking service from either building.
  • All books and items returned are quarantined for 72 hours before being available for the next reader.
  • Door knobs, desk surfaces, etc. are being cleaned multiple times daily.
  • Any patron "feeling ill" with virus symptoms of Covid-19, please do not enter.
  • No chairs will be available to sit and read or for sitting at internet computers.
  • No group programs for children, teens, or adults will take place this summer and no group rentals of the Whiton auditorium will be allowed.
  • Staffers will prevent overcrowding in any particular section.
  • Plexiglass shields are in place on public service desks. Stanchions are set up to guide the flow of
  • borrowers along the checkout desk.
  • Public restrooms will be closed.
