Our small business series shines a light on local business owners in the community.

Every local business has a story worth sharing with the community. And that’s the belief behind this exciting series — to shine the spotlight on all our favorite local businesses, and to learn a little about the ones we may not know that well.

How did you come up with the name?

The place to Go for Indian Food.

Why start a business in this town?

When we were considering opening the restaurant, Manchester was becoming a hub, to go place for shopping, dining, entertainment. And customers did not have a good place for Indian thus we decided on Manchester.

Briefly, what business are you in?

We are operating an Indian Restaurant, which specializes in regular Indian fare and customers with special dietary needs. Due to the growing demand in Gluten-Free and Vegan customers, we revamped our menu to satisfy every guest who walks in our door.

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

Right after we opened the economy took a downturn which was the hardest thing we faced since the opening.

What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?

Proudest moments are few which come to minds, one of the most successful event at the UConn Campus sponsored by The Asian Cultural Center and the Guest was “Kal Penn.” We were awarded leadership in small business by the Asian Pacific American Coalition of Connecticut. We topped the Tripadvisor list as the best restaurant among 170 in Manchester CT.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?

We support local schools, churches with their fund raising projects. We also work closely with Asian Pacific American Coalition of Connecticut promoting the Asian Culture in the society.
