MCC Offers Kitchens, Facilities to Help Great Harvest Bread

Although the popular Great Harvest Bread Company was decimated in a fire this weekend, offers of support have been outpouring from the community since. 

Numerous residents have pledged support to the local business and its owners, Jean and Dale Roberts, on Great Harvest Bread's Facebook page, including Manchester Community College President Gena Glickman, who said "whatever we can do...please call us at the college. Kitchens, retail outlet at our Main Street location...whenever you're ready, we want to help" in a Facebook post on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. 

MCC officials told Patch Tuesday that there has been "some conversation" with the owners about the offer, but "nothing has been finalized." 

The Roberts have been quiet about their plans since the fire, but posted to Facebook on Sunday: 

"Thank you to everyone for the support! We are still looking into what happened and what we need to do next. We know that our next step is to rebuild and we thank everyone for the support and ideas of ways to help the bakery. This is devastating to the whole community, but now we will come back stronger!" 

Tuesday, Great Harvest Bread Company posted the following statement on Facebook: 

"Our hearts are in this but at this time it's a numbers game. With the community's help, we just might be able to get back off the ground."

Meanwhile, the Main Pub is accepting clothing and bedding donations for two of its employees who lived in the apartments above the fire ravaged 801 Main St. who "lost everything they own" in the fire. More information about that effort can be found on the Main Pub's Facebook page.
