Race Car-Like Move Causes Off-Ramp Crash In Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — Two cars collided on an Interstate-84 off-ramp when one driver apparently tried a race car-like move, state police said.

The crash took place at 4:01 p.m. Saturday at the Exit 63 eastbound interchange, according to a report.

At 2015 Nissan Altima driven by an 18-year-old East Hartford woman was exiting the highway in the right lane, state police said. Behind the Altima was a 2004 Saab 9-5 ARC, a report indicates.

The driver of the Saab, a 65-year-old South Windsor man, cut into the breakdown lane and tried to pass the Altima on the right. The Saab, side-swiped the Nissan, according to a report.

The driver of the Saab was cited for improper passing, state police said.
