Rain Today, Fair Tomorrow -- with Sun, Sun, Sun and 70s Temps

Saturday is the best day to be outdoors around here for a long, long time, and if you weren’t zipping down to the Caribbean for the recent school break, well — you get Saturday in the 70s for free (although it could get a bit gusty).

Showers are expected Friday from morning to early afternoon, with the temperature only in the 60s after that, the National Weather Service says. Sunday doesn’t have any rain in the forecast, but it will be cooler, in the 50s and 60s.

For the rest of the upcoming week, the weather service says it will probably rain on Monday and it may well rain on other weekdays. At this point, Weather.com expects next weekend’s temperatures to only hit the 50s.

Here’s the Manchester-specific forecast from the National Weather Service (as of the 7:53 a.m., Friday update):

• Friday — Showers, mainly before 11am. High near 65. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
• Friday night — Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 45. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight.
• Saturday — Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 73. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.
• Saturday night — Mostly clear, with a low around 41. North wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
• Sunday — Sunny, with a high near 62. North wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the morning.
• Sunday night — A chance of rain, mainly after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Monday — Rain likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 53. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
• Monday night — Rain. Low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
• Tuesday — A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
• Tuesday night — A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Wednesday — A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 59. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Wednesday night — A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
