Special Weather Statement Issued For Hartford/Tolland County
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for northern Connecticut and details when the severe weather may occur.
HARTFORD/TOLLAND/WINDHAM, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Hartford, Tolland and Windham countIES for the chance for strong-to- severe thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.
"Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front moving southward across Southern New England this afternoon," the weather service cautions. "While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few thunderstorms may become strong to severe and become capable of producing damaging wind gusts. Cloud to ground lightning and brief downpours can also be anticipated in and near thunderstorms.
"Thunderstorms should begin to affect the Massachusetts Route 2 corridor between 2 and 4 PM, the Boston- Worcester-Springfield corridor between 3 and 6 PM, and much of Connecticut, Rhode Island into southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod between 4 and 7 PM.
