Special Weather Statement Issued For Hartford/Tolland County

The National Weather Service said strong storms are moving through northern Connecticut Monday morning.

HARTFORD/TOLLAND COUNTY, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for the area as a line of strong storms is approaching the Hartford and Springfield metros as of 7 a.m.

At 6:47 a.m., radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Great Barrington to near Trumbull. Movement was east at 40 mph.

"Pea size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will accompany these storms," the weather service said. "Frequent lightning and torrential rainfall capable of ponding of water on roads can be expected."
