Strong-To-Severe Thunderstorms Possible Today For Northern CT

Here are new details, timeline for when we may see the stormy weather today in Hartford and Tolland county.

HARTFORD/TOLLAND COUNTY, CT — The National Weather Service said showers and thunderstorms are possible largely between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday.

Some storms could produce strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Up to a half inch of rain is possible.

More showers and storms are possible Monday night, Tuesday and Tuesday night, according to the weather service.

The weather service said, "A slow moving front will slide eastward today. This will generate showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. A few thunderstorms may become strong to severe, with localized damaging winds and torrential rains. The heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding. Clearing with cooler and drier conditions for Monday night. Upper low pressure brings more unsettled weather Tuesday, but high pressure then brings fair weather for Wednesday and possibly Thursday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms return on Friday through Sunday.

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 1pm and 5pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight
A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. Light and variable wind becoming west around 5 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday
A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
