Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Hartford, Tolland County

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for portions of Tolland and Hartford counties until 10:15 p.m.

"At 926 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Rocky Hill, or near Wethersfield, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines.

Locations impacted include...
Hartford, West Hartford, Manchester, East Hartford, Glastonbury, Newington, Wethersfield, Berlin, Rocky Hill, Hebron, Marlborough, Columbia and Andover.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 10 p.m. for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties.

"Severe weather threat continues through 10 PM. Widely scattered strong/severe thundertorms may develop until 7 PM across the interior. Then a line of storms will work its way southeastward across the region tonight."

"Damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes are all concerns. Localized heavy rain and street flooding is a secondary concern."

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then scattered showers. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Low around 60. West wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. North wind 7 to 9 mph.

Saturday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 52. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 71. Light south wind.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Light south wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
