Trunk-or-Treating Done Right
Photos from Saturday's safe, fun, and "spooktacularly" successful event at the Academy.
On Saturday, 14 cars parked in the Academy parking lot, opened their trunks, and laid out treats for the 100 kids who came trick-or-treating! Saturday was a perfect day to be outside social distancing, with bold blue October skies and temperatures cool enough to be comfortable in a costume without being too hot or too cold. Considering the day was bookended by days filled with snow, wind, and rain, the gorgeous weather did not go unappreciated. Finally, 2020 gave us a break!
The Academy hosted this event because we wanted to provide a safe way to celebrate Halloween in as normal a way as possible in the year that seems to have stripped away everything normal from our lives. And it was a stunning success! Students of the Academy's martial arts, Jedi, cardio kickboxing, and after school programs were able to see each other face to face, many for the first time since March. The children who attended showed off their costumes and were rewarded with treats set out in bags instead of in big bowls to limit the amount of germs we all shared.
Fun was had by all, and it was really wonderful to hear so many parents express their thanks that the Academy hosted this event and kept it as safe as possible for all participants.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and their trunks and thank you to all the trick-or-treaters and their families who came to share their joy with us.
All of us at the Academy look forward to doing this again next Halloween!
