Wage Protest Wednesday Morning at McDonald's in Manchester
Protesters reportedly showed up Wednesday morning at the McDonald's restaurant at 184 Spencer St. in Manchester to protest low wages.

A Connecticut organization that wants higher wages and unionization started a protest at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the McDonald’s restaurant at 184 Spencer St., according to a report from NBC Connecticut.
The demonstration is one of 230 planned across the country by groups that want higher pay and unions for low-wage workers, according to the television station’s website.
The campaign, spearheaded by the Service Employees International Union, started in 2012, NBC Connecticut reported.

McDonald’s recently announced that it would pay at least a dollar more than the local minimum wage at its company-owned restaurants, which are 10 percent of the total. That company and others have said franchisees control wages. McDonald’s said it expected its restaurants to remain open during protests on Wednesday, according to NBC Connecticut.
