2 Face Charges After Gun Fired Inside Milford Home: Police

A convicted felon and a woman are facing gun charges following a July incident, according to police.

MILFORD, CT ? Two people were arrested on gun charges after a false report of an attempted break-in and gunfire was reported, according to police.

Police were dispatched to a Seaside Avenue address after receiving several calls from Laura Nunez, 43, reporting that "she heard noises all night, and it sounded as though someone was trying to kick in her door," according to police.

Nunez told police she fired a rifle through her rear door after somebody shot at her apartment.

However, detectives investigated and found no incoming rounds into the apartment.

An investigation found that Miguel Torres, 45, a convicted felon, was the one who fired the rifle, according to police.

Police seized several guns, magazines, and ammunition from the home. There was also a juvenile present during the incident.

Nunez and Torres were both taken into custody on arrest warrants Wednesday.

Nunez was charged with two counts of possession of a large-capacity magazine, false statement, and interfering with an officer.

Torres was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and risk of injury to a minor.

Both are set to appear in Milford Superior Court on Oct. 2.
