$3M Allocated For New Multi-Purpose Athletic Field In Milford
The Board of Finance approved nearly $12 million in city-wide projects at a recent meeting.

MILFORD, CT — The Board of Finance approved appropriating $11.8 million in borrowing for various public improvements in Milford at a recent meeting. The Board of Aldermen will vote in February on the same request.
Some of the funds are for road repaving throughout Milford, officials said. A total of $3 million is allocated for a new multi-purpose athletic field.
At the meeting, Recreation Director Paul Piscitelli, stated the multi-purpose field is to improve the Kelly, Martin, Tighe Field located near Foran High School, according to meeting minutes. Piscitelli reviewed the various sports that will be played on the new fields. He further stated that it is currently a grass field with very poor drainage, and the field was not used last year.

The Kelly, Martin, Tighe field is located on French Drive and the plan is to convert it from natural grass to synthetic turf, Piscitelli said.

improvements at the Jonathan Law fields, according to meeting minutes.
Chairman Brian Lema stated he is concerned with drainage issues on the other Foran fields. Jim Richeteli, Board of Education Chief Operations Officer, explained the drainage was previously addressed on the Foran fields and has not been an issue. Board member Lauren Ranges asked when the work will start on the multipurpose filed. Piscitelli stated at the end of spring sports and hopefully ready for the Fall season.
