5 Milford Police Officers Receive Honors For Their Work

In one case, two stolen vehicles were involved, police said. In another case it involved a "violent felon," police said.

MILFORD, CT — At the April Board of Police Commissioners meeting five Milford police officers were honored for their exemplary work while in the field.

Officer Cory Onofrio received a letter of recognition for his work in apprehending a suspect involving two stolen vehicles where a facsimile firearm was involved, police said. Chief Keith Mello mentioned that "we don’t do pursuits in a case like this when questioned about pursuits by Commissioner (Richard) Smith."

In a separate case, Sgt. Sean Degnan, Off. Kevin Hilliard, Off. Kyle Magnan and Off. Steve Napoletano all received a unit citation.

"This case involved a dangerous violent felon who was in possession of numerous weapons at the Red Roof Inn," police said. "He was taken into custody without incident due to the above Officers assistance. Officer Kevin Hilliard received a Certificate of Commendation for this case. The DOC and Fugitive Task Force were also involved with this case along with our Officers."
