7 Indicted In Massive Burglary Ring That Hit Milford Store: Feds

Members of a burglary ring that hit jewelry stores across the country to the tune of $1.28 million have been indicted, prosecutors said.

MILFORD, CT ? Seven people have been indicted in a nationwide jewelry theft ring that included a burglary of a Milford store, according to a statement from federal prosecutors.

The group is accused of burglarizing jewelry stores and kiosks in malls, then taking the stolen property across state lines.

The group is accused of hitting the Connecticut Post Mall in Milford on Oct. 5, 2023, as well as stores in New Jersey, Virginia, and New York. They also cased stores and kiosks in Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Delaware, according to the statement.

The total losses from these burglaries exceed $1.28 million.

A federal grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment charging the seven people in July. That indictment was partially unsealed Thursday.

The people charged include: Edixon Rincon Puentes, 44, of Los Angeles; Yesenia Melendez Rincon, 40, of Kissimmee, Florida; Harold Ramirez Cagua, 40, of Miami; and Jorge Giovanni Escobar Gonzalez, 40, of Kissimmee, Florida.

Law enforcement is pursuing three others who will face charges and their identities remain under seal.

The indictment charges Ramirez Cagua, Rincon Puentes, Melendez Rincon, and Escobar Gonzalez each with one count of conspiracy, a crime that carries a maximum prison term of five years, and one count of interstate transportation of stolen property, a crime that carries a maximum prison term of 10 years.
