BGV Celebrates '17 Charles F. Hayden Graduation, Academic Awards
The first graduating HS class at BGV's Hayden School is honored during ceremonies which recognize the accomplishments of all students.

From Boys & Girls Village: Boys & Girls Village (BGV), a statewide leader in providing behavioral health treatment, permanency planning, and educational services to Connecticut’s most vulnerable youth and their families, recently honored the achievements of its students at ceremonies held June 14 & 15 on BGV’s Milford campus. The ceremonies recognized the Charles F. Hayden School’s first graduating class, BGV students who will be moving onto higher grade levels, as well as students whose progress has allowed them to transition their studies to a school in their communities.
BGV’s Hayden School, which will begin work on an 8,300 square foot expansion of its Upper School this summer, has experienced tremendous growth over the last several years, offering a 12th grade curriculum for the first time during the 2016-17 school year. The ceremony on June 14 recognized the five students who completed their high school education. The ceremony also honored other high school and middle school students for their achievements and progress.
The ceremony on June 15 recognized the progress made by the elementary school students who attend the Lower School. Teachers provided each student with a certificate highlighting the student’s progress, and unique individual contribution to the classroom. Many of those students will be continuing at the Hayden School in the fall, while others will transition into traditional public schools.

“Our job is to give you every opportunity we can,” said Dr. Steven Kant, BGV’s President and CEO, during his address to the students. “Your job is to do the best with taking responsibility for making the most out of those opportunities.”
Following the ceremonies in the Hayden School gymnasium, students and their families enjoyed a celebratory picnic lunch hosted by the school staff.
