Bobcat Sightings Reported in Milford

City officials remind residents to pay extra attention to small pets.: Breaking

MILFORD, CT — City officials warned residents of several bobcat sightings in North Milford this past week.

"As you would with anything wild, please exercise common sense and avoid approaching the animals," Mayor Ben Blake said in an alert to residents.

According to the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection website, adult male bobcats typically weigh between 18 and 35 pounds and measure from 32 to 37 inches in length. Adult females typically weigh between 15 and 30 pounds and measure from 28 to 32 inches in length.

Bobcats typically eat small animals such as rabbits, woodchucks and squirrels, but also prey on domestic animals. They are most active just after dusk and before dawn. Attacks on humans are extremely rare.
