Business Expands to Milford, Creates 100 New Jobs: Report
The company is originally based in California and this is the second location in Connecticut.

California-based company SolarCity has opened a second operations facility in Connecticut in Milford at 200 Cascade Blvd., the New Haven Register reports.
Milford Mayor Benjamin G. Blake said that 100 new jobs have been created in the 16,000-square-foot facility in Milford.
There is another SolarCity center located in Rocky Hill, Conn. SolarCity is a solar energy company for businesses or residential customers. The company employs 14,000 people nationally.

SolarCity is the largest company of its kind in the country, the Connecticut Post reports.
The company installs solar panels on a qualifying home at no cost to the customer, who then buys half of monthly energy needs through the solar panels, the CT Post reports, and the customer purchases the other half from a utility.

Lee Keshishian, Vice President of East Coast operations, said the company has a goal of having enough locations so any given customer is within a 45 minute driving distance to the services in their given area, the Register reports.
“This is a company that has a real commitment to renewable energy,” said State Sen. Gayle Slossberg.
Keshishian said New England is burdened by some of the highest electricity rates.
