Car Fire Shuts Down Highway In Milford, Fire Officials Say

A car fire temporarily shut down a highway and was quickly extinguished Thursday morning in Milford.

MILFORD, CT ? A car fire shut down the Route 15 connector in Milford on Thursday morning, according to fire officials.

The Milford Emergency Operations Center received a report of a car fire on the southbound side of the highway at 7:32 a.m.

Firefighters arrived and found a car engulfed in flames.

However, firefighters acted quickly and extinguished the blaze in 10 to 15 minutes.

The highway had to be shut down temporarily until the area could be sanded due to the frigid temperatures. It was later reopened.

No one was injured.

Crews were at the scene of the accident for about an hour.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
