Closure And Layoff Dates Set For Milford J.C. Penney: Report

The Milford store is one of about 140 J.C. Penney locations slated to close this year across the nation.

MILFORD, CT — The J.C. Penney store in the Connecticut Post Mall in Milford will layoff 89 workers by June 18, and close permanently on July 31, reports the Connecticut Post.

The department store chain notified state officials this week of the number of layoffs and the closure date, and the mall's operators are aggressively marketing the space for a new anchor tenant.
In March, J.C. Penney announced it was closing 140 of its stores this year, including the Milford location. Those store closures are expected to result in a total of about 5,000 workers losing their jobs, according to the company.
