Cops: Neighbor Burglarized Milford Home

Local man, 56, faces burglary and criminal mischief charges.

Arrest information supplied by the Milford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hawley Avenue man is accused of burglarizing a Woodmont neighbor’s home in the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 24.

Jeffrey Brauner, 56, faces charges of first-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief for the alleged incident at a nearby Dixon Street home.

Police said they received a complaint of a burglary in progress shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday.

The homeowner reportedly told police he heard a noise downstairs and when he went to check it out he found his neighbor entering the home through a broken window screen. Police said they arrived and arrested Brauner on the scene.

The criminal mischief charge stems from the accusation that the 56-year-old local broke a fence at the property line prior to allegedly forcing his way into the Woodmont home.

No motive has yet to be determined, police said.

Brauner was held in lieu of $5,000 bond.
