Coronavirus Impacts Milford's Traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony
Milford officials have a message for residents concerning the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
MILFORD, CT — Each year the city of Milford holds its annual tree lighting ceremony on the Green the day after Thanksgiving but not this year due to the coronavirus.
City officials said the lights on the Milford Green will be illuminated this Friday evening and will "brighten the downtown each night of the holiday season."
"As with many 2020 events, Milford will be celebrating Thanksgiving weekend with a focus on public health and will NOT host its traditional tree lighting," officials said. "In lieu of the formal Friday night ceremony, residents are urged to revel in the spirit of the season with peace, joy, happiness and TAKEOUT FROM A FAVORITE MILFORD RESTAURANT. Local eateries are offering up tasty specials and good tidings for all. Be sure to drive-by festive lights and decorations strung across town as you pick-up food from the many fabulous cafes, diners, bistros, pizzerias, and gastropubs in Milford."
