CT Weather: Snow Accumulation Estimates Rise Again For Tuesday Storm
Snow accumulation estimates are increasing for a strong storm on Tuesday. Here are the new details and timeline as of Monday morning.
CONNECTICUT ? A winter storm warning is now in effect for the entire state on Tuesday, as snow accumulation estimates continue to rise on Monday morning.
A winter storm warning has been extended to the coastal towns of southern Connecticut, where up to 10 inches of snow is possible. As of Sunday evening, only 3 to 5 inches of snow was forecast in this area.
The remainder of the state is looking at between 7 to 13 inches of snow.

As for the timing, Monday is completely dry, and the snow moves in after midnight, and the heaviest snow is forecast to fall on Tuesday morning and into the early afternoon hours. Snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

I-95 coastal towns:
A winter storm warning is in effect from 1 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday. "Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph....Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute."
Inland sections of southern Connecticut:
A winter storm warning is in effect from 1 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday. "Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 9 to 12 inches....Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute."

Hartford/Tolland/Windham County:
A winter storm warning is in effect from 1 a.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Wednesday. "Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 13 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph....Travel could be very difficult to impossible with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour at times. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will particularly impact the Tuesday morning commute....heaviest snow likely occurs roughly between 9 AM and 3 PM."
Litchfield County:
A winter storm warning is in effect from 1 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday. "Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 13 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.....Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
"...Snowfall rates up to 2 inches per hour will likely occur late Monday night into Tuesday morning within the heaviest snowbands but there remains some uncertainty on the exact placement of these bands."
