CT Weather: Strong-To-Severe Thunderstorms Possible Sunday

CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the chance of strong-to-severe thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening. There is a smaller chance of thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon.

The big change this weekend is the heat. It's going to feel like August with temperatures approaching 90 degrees. And once the storms roll through Sunday night, temperatures will plummet to the upper 60s for high temperatures on Monday.

Once the unsettled weather ends Sunday night, there is nothing but dry conditions and plenty of sunshine from Monday through Friday as we head into the Memorial Day weekend.

The National Weather Service forecast currently ends on Friday, but The Weather Channel in its extended forecast shows rain showers next Saturday, partly cloudy conditions on Sunday, and mostly cloudy conditions on Memorial Day.

"There is potential for an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm Sunday afternoon into Sunday Evening."

Northern Connecticut statement on the storms chance

"Isolated thunderstorms are possible late today...A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible later Sunday with the primary hazard being brief locally damaging wind gusts...."
