CT Weather: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Most Of State
And it also looks like the Memorial Day weekend weather forecast has taken a big turn for the worse. Here's what you need to know.
CONNECTICUT — We'll need to keep our eyes to the sky Wednesday afternoon and evening as there is a chance for strong-to-severe thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Litchfield County until 8 p.m., for Fairfield County until 8 p.m. and until 11 p.m. for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties.
In southern Connecticut, the weather service said the best chance for storms is mid-afternoon through this evening. For northern sections of the state, the best chance for storms is between 5-9 p.m.

Strong wind gusts, small hail are the biggest concerns, the weather service said.
"Scattered thunderstorms may produce damaging winds and hail later today and this evening, mainly in northern Connecticut and in Massachusetts from the Berkshires to Worcester County," the weather service said concerning northern parts of the state. "The most likely timeframe is between 5 PM and 8 PM. Storms are expected to weaken as they reach Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts after 9 PM."

In Fairfield County, the weather service said, "An approaching cold front will bring potential for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening. Strong to damaging wind gusts will be the main threat. Hail and even and isolated tornado is also a possibility."

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Southwest wind 7 to 13 mph.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. West wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday: Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 80. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 53. North wind 6 to 9 mph.
Friday: A 50 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon. Increasing clouds, with a high near 66. Northeast wind 8 to 13 mph.
Friday Night: Rain. Low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Saturday: Rain likely, mainly before 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
