MILFORD, CT — A developer is pitching a massive proposal to construct a hotel, more than 150 apartments and a shopping center on largely vacant land near the intersection of Route 1 and Plains Road, the Milford Mirror reports.
A public hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at City Hall. The hotel would include 125 rooms and 125 parking spaces and would be located near the Exit 36 off-ramp, the Mirror reports.
The project includes 168 apartments to be housed in nine three-story buildings near Bona Street, the Mirror reports. A total of 299 parking spaces are proposed. (To sign up for Milford breaking news alerts and more, click here. )

The shopping center would include 60,000 square feet and would be located near Aldi. The developer is Metro Star Properties II LLC, which is no stranger to Milford, as its member is Robert H. Smith Jr., who was an owner in Smith Craft Real Estate Corp, which built numerous apartment complexes in downtown Milford. Smith Craft was routinely one of the city's top taxpayers.
