Diana Nytko, 'Vibrant Supporter Of All Things Milford,' Dies At 82
Nytko was remembered for her contributions to the United Way and for founding the Milford Oyster Festival.

MILFORD, CT ? Diana Nytko, a long-time champion for the Milford United Way's fundraising efforts and founder of Milford's Oyster Festival, died Thursday. She was 82.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Diana Nytko," the Milford United Way posted on Facebook. "Diana was well known across the entire Milford community -- as she was a vibrant and active supporter of 'all things Milford.' She served the Milford United Way for many years, both as champion in our fundraising efforts, as well as serving on the MUW Board. Milford has lost a true gem. Our condolences to her husband, Doug, and sons Steve and Donald."
Nytko founded the Milford Oyster Festival, which she ran for its first three years. The popular event annually attracts in excess of 50,000 people to downtown Milford.

Nytko was also a talented performer from a young age. She starred in the Broadway production of "The King and I" for six months as a child, according to her obituary.
She was an entrepreneur as well and became the owner of a successful real estate appraisal business.
