Dog Cut With Knife, Loses Tooth After Being Struck: Milford PD
Police said the accused "made swiping motions with a knife at the dog attempting to cut the dogs neck," which led to the cut.
MILFORD, CT — A Bridgeport man is accused of animal cruelty after police said he cut a dog with a knife and struck the dog causing it to lose one of its teeth, Milford police said.
On May 31, police responded to 219 Woodmont Road, Mayflower Motel, on the report of a possible domestic violence incident, police said. Investigation led to the arrest of Edwin Gonzalez, 30, of Iranistan Avenue, who is accused of pushing a woman that has an active order of protection against him onto a bed during an argument, police said.
"As Gonzalez was screaming at the female, the female’s dog was barking and Gonzalez made swiping motions with a knife at the dog attempting to cut the dogs neck causing the dog to sustain a cut," police said in a news release. "Gonzalez is also accused of striking the dog resulting in it losing one of its teeth."

Police said Gonzalez also had two active arrest warrants for failure to appear stemming from prior arrests and one active warrant for violation of probation.
He is charged with second-degree unlawful restraint, cruelty to animals, second-degree threatening, disorderly conduct, criminal attempt at second-degree assault, violation of a protective order, violation of probation, and two counts of second-degree failure to appear.He was initially held on $55,000 bond.
