"This is the most wonderful time of the year for car thieves! They know we don’t like getting into a cold car but leaving a car running, unattended, and unlocked creates a crime of opportunity. Let’s work together this year to take away the opportunity!

-Don’t leave your car running and unlocked.

-Don’t leave your car running while unattended for long periods of time.

-In public places such as gas stations or shopping centers, shut your car off if you go inside. Even if you’re just running in quick, there are several people around that can see your car is running and unattended and may take advantage of the opportunity.

-Know that some vehicles can be unlocked and start driving just with the key fob in the vicinity of the vehicle."
