Fifth Annual 'Emergency of Hunger' Food Drive a Success
Two-day event raises $4,000 in cash, 80 turkeys and about 8,000 donated food items for the South Windsor Food Bank.
The Town of South Windsor raised $4,000 in cash, 80 turkeys and about 8,000 donated food items for the South Windsor Food Bank in the fifth annual “Emergency of Hunger” food drive that took place this past weekend at Stop & Shop and Geissler’s Supermarket.
The South Windsor Police Department posted on its Facebook page that the food drive is a friendly competition between the local emergency and public service agencies to collect food and cash donations for area food banks and shelters. The local teams are comprised of police, fire, public works and EMS professionals, as well as citizens and Rotary Club volunteers from the communities of South Windsor, Manchester, Vernon, Enfield, and Windsor.
