Former Kmart Developer Asks For Height Changes

Developers of the former Kmart site are asking for a maximum height change.

MILFORD, CT ? The developers of the former Kmart site are asking the Planning and Zoning Board to amend regulations in order to increase the height of their proposed building.

The plan still calls for 202 residential units, with 10 percent designated as affordable, said attorney John Knuff, who represents developer Casey Associates LTD .

The developers are asking to change the regulation from 45 feet to 55 feet due to prior lease commitments, according to meeting minutes. They also want to amend regulations so that 19 units are permitted per acre of land, instead of the current 17.

The Walgreens and Taco Bell will remain in place, but other commercial buildings will either be renovated or fully demolished and rebuilt. Plans call for 63,200 square feet of commercial space with 510 parking spaces.

Planning and Zoning Board officials are scheduled to meet in November.
