Free Meals For Veterans Offered At 3 Milford Restaurants

The free grub is his attempt to honor veterans while still trying "to keep times somewhat normal."

MILFORD, CT — Veterans will dine for free at three local restaurants on Monday.

Founder's House Pub & Patio at 117 Broad Street, Bridge House at 49 Bridgeport Avenue, and Bonfire Grille at 186 Hillside Avenue are all offering complimentary lunch or dinner for former servicemen and women.

"Regardless of how twisted 2020 is I know our vets look forward to the recognition during this time," owner Frank Basile told Patch. The free grub is his attempt to honor veterans while still trying "to keep times somewhat normal."

Basile said he was purposely not offering the deal on Veterans Day itself (Wednesday) in the hopes that other restaurants would pick up on his idea and offer their own complimentary meals to vets on that day.

Founders House and Bridge House will be offering New York strip steak dinners, and Bonfire Grille is presenting an "all-American burger" or chicken sandwich with fries.
