MILFORD, Aug 22nd, 2019 – After almost a year, the planned StoryWalk Project in Eisenhower Park was installed on August 10th with help from a Boy Scout Troop, and the Milford Fire and Public Works Departments. The project took about 15 total hours with the help of countless people. The work included digging 33 - 3ft holes, putting 6-foot poles into the ground and pouring concrete.
StoryWalk is an innovative and delightful way for children (and adults) to enjoy the wonders of reading and the beauty of the outdoors at the same time. Pages from a book are placed within signs that are installed along the trail in Eisenhower Park. As you meander along the trail, you're led to the next sign containing the next page of the story. The entrance to the StoryWalk is behind the pickle ball courts and next to the Splashpad. StoryWalk is the Eagle Scout project of Scout Marco Buschauer and is done in partnership with the Milford Public Library. Donors to the project include: Friends of the Milford Public Library, Devon Rotary Club, Milford Indoor Tennis, The Milford Education Foundation, Rotary Club of Milford, The Milford Bank, Lowes and Home Depot.
The first Story Walk book is “Mother Bruce” by Ryan T. Higgins. The story is about a grumpy bear named Bruce who, through a case of mistaken identity, learns the importance of family. Stories will be changed out quarterly by staff from the Milford Public Library.

What is a StoryWalk
StoryWalk was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and involves pages of a book(often a children’s story)being placed in signs along a path that families can traverse along, in nature, to combine exercise, promote literacy and spend time with their loved ones.
What is an Eagle Scout Project?
A project done by a Scout just before they achieve the highest rank in Scouting: Eagle. The project always helps the community while providing the scout leadership experience to become successful in life.
