Man Dies in Single-Car Accident in Milford

A 61-year-old local man was killed Saturday when his car struck a utility pole guide wire off Woodmont Road.

The man was traveling southbound about 1:30 p.m. when he apparently lost control of the vehicle, police said in a Monday morning release.

The man, whose name is being withheld until family can be notified, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Milford police spokesman Jeff Nielsen said in a phone interview that the sexagenarian’s car was the only vehicle involved in the accident, which occurred near the intersection with Eastern Steel Road.

It’s unclear if a medical condition may have played a role in the accident.
