Man Facing Forgery And Larceny Charges: Milford Police
Milford Police said they had received a complaint regarding a stolen check that was altered.

MILFORD, CT ? A New York man is facing forgery and larceny charges after being charged on a warrant, Milford police said.
On Feb. 15, Milford Police received a complaint regarding a stolen check that was altered. The victim informed police that she wrote a check for $5,000 and sent it to a company via mail to pay her credit card, police said. Approximately one month later, she received calls from the company regarding an unpaid credit card bill, police said.
Investigation showed that the check was altered and forged, police said. Detectives completed a search warrant to reveal the suspect?s identity, which showed information for Jermaine Nelson, 49, of Brooklyn, NY, police said. An extraditable warrant was issued for Nelson in April.

Detectives traveled to Rikers Island Correctional Facility in New York and took custody of Nelson, police said. Nelson was brought back to Milford Police Department and charged with second-degree forgery and third-degree larceny.
A $25,000 court set bond was placed on Nelson. He was released after posting bond and is set to appear in Milford Court on Aug. 21.
