Man Robbed Store At Knifepoint: Milford Police

The man left the store with $3, according to police.

MILFORD, CT — A Milford man is accused of robbing a Cumberland Farms convenience store at knifepoint during the overnight hours on Thursday, according to police.

Police responded to the Cumberland Farms at 1023 Boston Post Rd. around 4:30 a.m. on the report of a robbery.

A man, later identified as David Newman, walked into the store and went directly to the front counter and pointed a knife at an employee and demanded money, according to police.

Police said the employee had $3 sitting on top of the register from a previous sale that he immediately handed to Newman, who left the store and fled the area.

An investigation led to an arrest warrant for Newman, who was arrested just before 3 p.m. without incident, police said.

Newman, 45, of Bridgeport Avenue, was charged with first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
