Milford FD Receives Federal Grant For Critical Equipment Upgrade

The department received a $441,000 federal grant through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program to be used to upgrade equipment.

MILFORD, CT ? The Milford Fire Department recently received a federal grant of $441,000 through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program to be used to upgrade critical equipment.

In a Facebook post, fire officials said the grant was provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.

According to the department, the funds will help purchase new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus and Rapid Intervention Team Packs, enhancing the safety and effectiveness of Milford's firefighters.

"An internal committee from the Milford Fire Department has been established to research and try out several different vendors, and these efforts are still ongoing," department officials said on Facebook. "We are all very thankful for the hard work from everyone that was involved to make this grant become a reality for the community and the citizens that we proudly serve."
