Milford Man Arrested for Incidents Downtown

Fifty-three-year-old local faces trespassing, breach of peace, threatening and harassment charges.

A 53-year-old Milford man was charged this week for two separate incidents downtown.

Bruce Johnson, of 100 Viscount Drive, is accused of sending “a suspicious letter containing a white powdery substance” to the Artifax shop Dec. 2, police said.

Prior to the letter – the contents of which were later determined to be harmless – Johnson had allegedly been harassing and threatening an Artifax employee, police said.

Johnson is also accused of trespassing at Café Atlantique Nov. 30 after authorities allegedly banned him from the River Street business a few doors down from Artifax.

In all, Johnson faces charges of first-degree criminal trespass, first- and second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening and second-degree harassment.

He is next scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court Jan. 21.
