Milford Restaurant Reopens After Being Closed By City
The city had ordered the restaurant closed due to violations of the state's requirements on capacity during the coronavirus pandemic.
MILFORD, CT — The Milford Sports Pub and Grille on Old Gate Lane has been cleared to reopen by the city of Milford, said the restaurant's managing partner, John Romano.
The eatery was ordered shut on Aug 3. due to violations of the state's requirements on capacity during the coronavirus pandemic.
Romano told Milford Patch that the restaurant was given clearance Monday afternoon to reopen and must abide by the rules including a capacity of under 100 people and masks must be worn.

The New Haven Register first reported the restaurant's closure, which happened Aug. 3. In that story, Romano said two bands were playing outdoors on a Friday night, which led to numerous people at the restaurant acting "careless" regarding coronavirus protocols.
Romano said the issue stemmed from having the bands' security police what happened outside while the restaurant handled security inside.

The restaurant had remained closed until reopening this week. Romano said the restaurant was allowed to reopen after submitting a "comprehensive plan" and having an inspection performed.
He said he was able to keep all 30 employees and that they were also paid too despite the closure.
Concerning the outdoor event that got the business in hot water with the city, Romano told Patch "We want to be in compliance, we want to do the right thing."
