Barracudas overcome 100 degree temperatures to go 7-0 and win title over host Tewksbury 5-2

Milford’s CT Barracudas 14u fastpitch softball team won the 2019 Strikeout Alzheimer’s Classic Tournament in Tewksbury, MA this past Sunday. The team fought through 100 degree temperatures all weekend to finish 7-0. With a pitching combination of Chloe Nittoly and Morgan Viesselman, the Barracudas gave up only 14 runs the entire weekend, including 3 shutouts.

In the championship game, the Barracudas knocked off the host and number one seeded Tewksbury Redmen 5-2. Viesselman gave up two runs in the bottom of the first inning and then settled in to keep Tewksbury scoreless the rest of the game. Lauren Stroffolino had a game saving catch with two runners on in the bottom of the fifth inning to preserve the lead. Viesselman and Kayden Provost had 3 hits each and Micheala Fortier added two more hits. With one tournament left in their season, the Barracudas have now won two tournaments to go along with two second place finishes.
